I stick to, I believe that good routines can/do show gains week in week out, year in year out, even decades. I am all for variety within succesful routines but I don't strictly believe that "reaction is trained into a habit and gets weaker overtime" - that still seems to support "muscle shock" and "body gets used to a workout"

Good points. I too love DB rows, but even though my form was good, it seemed I could always use far more weight when compared with barbell rows(close to 50KG compared with around 75-80KG), which lead me to concentrate on the barbell version.
Nutrition, workout frequency and sleep all deserve more of a mention too IMO.

Well, I don't believe in "muscle shock", but rather see what I described under #4 as a form of conditioning, where the reaction is trained into a habit and gets weaker over time.

I also couldn't have increased weight, which is what I actually wanted, as it only resulted in poor form and much too soon failure.

However, some people do actually never experience what I described there, so everyone's mileage might differ.

I am a complete skeptic as to point number 4. The only reason a workout stalls is if you have not been adding the weight. The whole concept of muscle shock, the body gets used to a workout philosophy, I believe to be spurious - as spurious as the next big thing in training - although the next big thing that makes any sense is Functional Training. Push/Pull/work the heads at different angles - not a lot changes. And buy some resistance bands to get greater movement, say like on vertical chest flyes allows you to really fly instead of halting to prevent injury.

Ec, db rows with a moderate weight gave me absolutely nothing(well, I did up the weight a couple times in forever), but 5x3 has been immensely useful in quite the short time. If I remember right the wolf had recommended them about that heavy as well. Worth looking into methinks.
