Sperms trying to reach a human ovumResearchers at Boston University just published a study that may lead men biking regularly to some troubled thoughts: Biking more than 5 hours per week may damage their sperms.

Only Biking Hurts

The study examined data gathered from in-vitro fertilization clinics between 1993 and 2003. 2261 participants filled out a questionnaire that indicated their general lifestyle and what physical activities they took part in. Finally, semen samples were taken.

Out of all activties the men listed, only riding a bike for more than 5 hours per week caused problems in the form of sperm count and sperm mobility. Men involved in other, even “vigorous”, physical activities had the same readings as those that never exercised.

Not Conclusive

Dr Lauren Wise, who headed the study, told Reuters that one explanation of the results may be trauma or temperature increase in the scrotum, but also noted that it is still too early to draw firm conclusions between biking and sperm health.

Have you ever had problems with your reproductive organs that you could track back to biking?

Same with sauna, it is shown that it can lower fertility if you use it regularly. But no worries you get it back as soon as you stop using it. 😀

I wonder if it works the same way with this bike study. You might be cooking your semen while you’re sitting on your balls, and then they return to normal after you stop it. I wonder if it’s the same for horseriding, because I used to do A LOT of that.

Hm, that’s the question: Do things return to normal?

Yes it was said in the same place where I read it that things will return to normal soon after you stop using it. Your cooking your balls in 60-100 degrees celsius so no wonder 😀

Okay I did some studies and studies show that the study was not correct and which is justified by the fact that heat transfer system in scrotum is so effective that using sauna normally which is 2-3 times a week doesn’t have effect on sperm quality.

Another thing is the steam saunas in which people can spend more time but there still is no clarity that they can harm anything.

I’m sorry if I confused someone here :P.

Well, at least we can be very sure that it isn’t a good idea to put your reproductive organs close to anything that is boiling 😉
