Dumbbell Bench Presses At Home

Dumbbell bench presses are a great compound exercise that works the chest and the triceps. Despite the name, they don’t really require a bench to do them at home.

Dumbbell Bench Presses Without A Bench?

Yes, you can do bench presses without the bench. Doing them on the floor lowers your range of motion a bit, but not to the point where the exercise becomes useless. If the lower ROM still bothers you, all you need is a board and a couple of books:

When To Do Them?

As said above, dumbbell bench presses are a great compound, but if you are a beginner, I rather have you start out with some push-ups, because exercises such as this one are safer to do when you have learned some body control. Besides, why invest in dumbbells when at the beginning you can get a great workout just your body’s weight?

If you are intermediate or advanced, chest presses make a great opener for your workout. I like to have them followed by incline presses and finish things off with flyes. These three together can give your chest the works.

I usually do vertical presses and incline presses with dumbbells using my chair in front of the computer. Either I sit very erect or slouch 🙂

I have a weight bench, but the chair works better!

The most exercise I got from the bench was putting the %$^&& thing together, lol!

Another piece of workout equipment for the garage sale!

Glad you are supportive of this!
