Old Exercises Rediscovered: Eugen Sandow Curls
How about an exercise no one has done in more than 100 years? You decide if that was for good reason or not!
Eugen Sandow’s Shoulder Biceps Curls
When I put together Eugen Sandow’s workout plan for online use, I came upon three exercises of his that no one has a video for and zero sites on the whole wide internet feature.
But it is hard to follow a plan without having seen what the exercises should look like, so I decided to put together videos on them.
We’ll start with what I christened the “Eugen Sandow Shoulder Biceps Curl.” Eugen wasn’t big on naming his exercises, so that name is as good as any:
But Should You Do This?
After I translated Eugen’s1897 workout plan to my site, I noticed that a lot of his exercises are very heavy on the shoulders. This one included. There’s huge static stress on the side delts and the biceps gets only half the effective range of motion it gets from regular biceps curls.
As I said in the video, there may be a good reason why no one did that exercise since, oh, 1918 or so. If you try it out let me know what your experiences with it are.
