Confused About Muscle Confusion?
“Muscle confusion” is a buzzword that received a lot of attention in the last couple of years. In reality, it is nothing but a fancy way of saying that you should change your workouts here and then.
What Is Muscle Confusion?
“You should from time to time change the way you do your workouts” sounds much less sexy than “muscle confusion”, doesn’t it? But that basically is all there is behind muscle confusion. Yet if you change your workouts too often, you might simply end up getting nowhere:
Muscle Confusion In P90X
As the term was made popular with Tony Horton’s workout program P90X, where constant changing of exercises is part of the concept, we should give that a short mention.
Many of those starting P90X haven’t worked out before and they may need some “excitement value” to keep doing their workouts. For that group, that otherwise may suffer from an acute case of ADD and quit fitness, doing workouts in this fashion could be a swell concept. But for anyone depending on seriously building muscle mass and strength, like bodybuilders or the powerlifters mentioned in the video, trying it could end in disillusionment.
