Alcohol And Working Out
Can you mix alcohol and working out? Or are you workouts doomed if you indulge in a couple of beers? As often, it’s a question of balancing things.
The Dosage Makes The Poison
This video explains what alcohol does to the body, why you shouldn’t have some before a workout, how much time should pass between a night of partying and your next workout, how having tons of alcohol can limit your muscle growth and why you need to keep an eye on the calories in beer, wine and all the other good stuff.

Forgot the water in the equation. Alcohol does tend to eliminate water. That is usually the case for hang overs. So hydration of the body after a hard night drinking will be lacking which will inhibit your body’s ability to convert calories to energy as well as properly control temperature.
Great vid.
True that! Alcohol has indeed quite a dehydrating effect. I thought about mentioning it, but as the video was already way longer than 5 min, decided against it.
Cool. It left something for me to comment on 😉
Seeing how there are a lot of carbs in alcohol I have a carb question. It is another bro science belief. My friend told me I should be eating 95g of carbs a day to lose weight. I don’t believe this i true but if I am wrong I would love to see some facts on it. Thanks. 🙂
Heah Yucca, when it comes to losing weight, a caloric deficit is all that matters and it plays no role how much or little you have of fat, carbs etc.
However, I think I can see where that recommendation is coming from: As you know, carbs allow you to perform better when you do cardio. If you do cardio for weight loss, but don’t have any carbs, you will perform worse and therefore burn less calories.
