Ask Scooby Forum – Down Again
This seems to become a continous theme: the forum is not around.
However this time it is due to a fundamental disagreement between Scooby and me, after which he banned me from the forum without prior warning, which I answered by removing the work I did on it over 800 hours.
Right now we are deadlocked and behave like two stubborn mules:
Just to make this clear: I only removed my work; all your postings, profiles etc. are still there in the database, because that stuff belongs to you guys.
Update: I tried to phone Scooby and talk this out with him, but didn’t manage to get him himself on the phone. Right now it looks uncertain if the forum might come back online, as in his very last email to me he told me that he was considering taking it down anyway.
Update April 26, 2011: I am no longer associated with Scooby or the forum.

I should just found some more information about the disagreement that’s going down. Apparently, Evilcyber stole a packet of Smarties from Scooby, Scooby retaliated by breaking one of Evil’s GI Joe action figures. It all got ugly from there and escalated further, let’s hope they sort it out.
you would’nt catch me dead paying for scobys website. One of the best features is it’s free
I do agree that having no cost to the website is a must.
However, when stuff like this happens every year or so, maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a fundraising campaign every year to help pay our moderators for their work.
I dont think we should pay the moderators.. Only scooby and Evil…
They’re most definitely not the only ones running the show.
@Brink And?…. There are a lot of members (not mods) on the forum that are “running the show” too…

Well, would it be fair to pay Evil and then not pay all of the other moderators who, all together, have been putting in the the same amount of hours? (Remember, everyone’s hours total I mean.)
At least pay them something, but of course I do think that if one is putting in much more time than others, he or she should be paid more than others.
And I mean paying the moderators who are actually putting in their commitment to the forum indefinitely.
Some people who are making excellent contributions aren’t moderators and could leave at any moment, and are probably just making contributions for their own pleasure.
Once the ban-hammer is out, all hell is loose.
I’ve witnessed this in a great gaming-community a few years back, and when you start banning well-known people off of a forum/server/community everything turns sour. I was hoping never to end up in this situation again.. I’m never allowed to have nice things…..

Evil is the one who have spent the most amount of hours on the project:

I understand that no other moderator has put in as much hours as Evilcyber individually. But perhaps all of the moderators together have at least put in as much hours as Evil has. Anyhow, I don’t feel like argueing this any longer.

Seriously, this is the best forum/community I’ve witnessed so far, it would be a shame, a shame to let it die like this.
An argument can’t simply be the reason why thousands of people aren’t connected anymore.
Imagine facebook would just be gone for good, there’d be a lot of discontent, too.
AND MOST OF THEM DON’T HAVE SO MUCH HEALTHY MUSCLE AS WE HAVE!
It would be the worst thing ecer if the forums did’nt come back. The forum and Scoobys website are easily the best plave to go for information in my opinion.

Scooby does not seem to be admitting that he did anything wrong on the FB page. And he doesn’t seem interested in talking to Evil either.
He recommends others to talk to Evil, which is pretty lame advice because it’s not like we can do anything by talking to him. The only way to fix this is for Scooby and Evil to talk.
Maybe there can be a trade-off: Some worthy payment for Evil’s work in exchange for the work he did on the website and then Evil won’t have to worry about it any longer.

Guys, give it some time. They are both reasonable people, and will work things out eventually.
Personally I think that they need some sort of an intermediary, someone they both like and are used to talking to. That someone could help working this out.
Conditions must be outspokenness and absolute honesty then though.
Updates on the Scooby-Evilcyber Conflict just in. Apparently, Evilcyber is willing to buy Scooby a new Action Man to make up for the one he broke, but Scooby still owes Evil a packet of Monster Munch and a new Hot Wheels set.

Don’t forget the Hot Wheels set that Evil wants is the Extreme Rare Edition with Gold with Purple Dots Cars. This is going to be one tough trade-off.

I wouldn’t have so big a problem with that, although I would say it’d harm some of the credibility and respect of Scooby and Cyber. Although at this point at least one of them is going to lose some respect for this. Too bad Evil is taking the heat already when we don’t know all the details.

Yes, I’m not joining Facebook so I think another fitness forum would a good place to regroup whilst we wait for those two to…….finish doing whatever it is that they’re doing at the moment.
I’m not on any other forums at the moment apart from ”Rational Scepticism Forum” but I could join another one, just because I’m a masochist and I enjoy the pain of logging on to a forum in which I have contributed over 2000 posts only to find the entire thing has been removed.
Come on man, try and resolve your issues, the forum has helped me and a lot of other members come along way with countless advise and discussions, there are such fantastic posts on there, i hope you guys can restore the forum, as it’s the community that has been affected as well as the effort you guys had put in.

Yes this is where muscle does not help and run over. Muscle doesnt help in mental situations like this, it probably douses it.
Scoobys forum was amazing, and nothing will beat it, both are at wrong.

No offence, but the amount of anxiety the people here are going through is bad, but that anxiety turns in to anger, and that anger turns into just plain pissed off.
If anything someone should recreate a clone of ask scooby. Bring all the memebers of the askscooby forum together, call it something like Newaskscooby or Friedly bodybuilding.
Yes im bad at names, but if someone could, then recreate it. Nothings happening with evil and scooby, something personal affected everyone.
Its similar in this context. Say your dog died, you both had alot in common, you both loved each other. You go around killing random people on the street because you are in distress that your best friend animal died.
This is like this, your bringing something personal, and inflicting it upon others. !!!!
Im sure most people here are really worried, dissapointed, but scooby and evil, you are gonna have to face it when everyone becomes angry. When all that disspaointment become anger. Its not going to be long. Those who really loved the forum, for example the moderators, etc… they lost a daily routine of their lives.
I really liked the forums. I had alot in it. I would ask questions, they would get answered. I loved replying and helping others. But now its all gone….
Anyways what im saying is, something has to happen, if nothing works, then who gives a damn, we shall just recreate another forum. Ive had expereince in it before.
But thats just the final plan, that is if all else fails. That means recreating from scratch, and yeah thats alot of effort, but its better than no forum.
But best bet is HOPEFULLY the two children will make up, say sorry, give each other a little hug, and become best friends again playing IT in the playground or playing bulldog or kisschase or whatever.
Anyways, hope something works out… From what ive been reading, scoobys been just as worse as evil. And like someone above said, to bring and inflict something personal upon others is just too far…

Honestly, this sounds perfect. Neither Scooby nor Evil takes a blow to their reputation, it would just be an argument that ended in Scooby happily giving up the forum and Evil happily taking it. It almost sounds planned…

If you really want a new forum then I suggest Evil makes a new one. Ask Scooby,no matter how much Evil or anyone else contributed is Scooby’s. I don’t think I’d be happy using a forum that is his without his consent.
The point is, it’s Evil asking for the site from Scooby. Not ruthlessly pilfering the site from him. Besides, Scooby has thought about taking the forum down anyways.

From what I can tell, Scooby didn’t have control over the forum shutting down. I think it’s that Evil took back so much data and work he rightfully owned that the forum couldn’t function without that and Scooby’s forum was left a lifeless shell.
And really, it seems like Scooby is much happier without the forum anyways.
wow scooby really played us all for fools huh. shame…you really never truly know a person, seemed like such a humble man. who would realize his actions affect 1000s of people on the forum
Scooby as some good basic knowledge on nutrition but his workouts and stuff suck.
That forum was much better than his site Wolf and dodothebird are better to listen to than scooby.

Nah, I don’t think it was intentional. It all spawned from an argument Evil and him had, which somehow led to Scooby banning Evil, which led to Evil removing the data.
But now Evil is seeing about bringing together a “new” forum, which is really just an almost exact copy of the old forum with a new name.
Scoobys workouts are for home safety so they do not suck
You guys need to learn something about loyalty. First of all, you don’t know what went on, so really you don’t know exactly how and why the forums were brought down. You’re also just hearing Evil’s side of the story, trust me, there is ALWAYS two sides. Also, the idea that Evil had the right to delete all his stuff from the forum is nonsense. When you put stuff on someone else’s website, it isn’t yours anymore. The only thing he should have done is disable embedding on his Youtube videos. Scooby has helped every single one of you, free of charge and should unbelievable class by thanking Evil in his message for all of his help. I’ve seen this before when people try to take someone else’s website, and it doesn’t work. You guys need to grow up and show Scooby the respect he deserves.
One more thing, in the about section Evil mentions how Scooby changed his life. Anything he did on the forums can never pay that back. Show some class.

Personally I have HUGE respect towards Scooby. And that makes this all the sadder as I think both scooby and evil made some things wrong.
In the end I just want the forum and the community back 🙂
